About the College
Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) stands as Arunachal Pradesh’s first and only medical college. It started in 2017 and functions directly under the state government. Affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh, the college holds recognition from the National Medical Commission for its MBBS program. The 150-acre campus includes academic blocks, administrative sections, research labs, a central library, simulation centres, hostels, and an auditorium.
The institution follows the CBME (Competency-Based Medical Education) curriculum. It builds doctors with strong clinical knowledge, communication skills, and ethical grounding. Students get early clinical exposure through hospital rounds, clinical discussions, and skill-based lab sessions from the first year. The academic structure emphasizes continuous assessments, self-learning, and hands-on experiences. Co-curriculars and community outreach also support personal and professional development.
About the Hospital
TRIHMS connects with a modern 500-bed tertiary care teaching hospital. It offers departments such as General Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, Orthopedics, ENT, Dermatology, Anesthesia, and Radiology. Fully operational ICUs, emergency services, diagnostic labs, and specialty clinics ensure broad clinical exposure.
As the only referral hospital in the region, it handles patients from across Arunachal Pradesh. It plays a major role in public health programs, including maternal health, immunization, and tuberculosis control. Students learn directly from real-world clinical scenarios through outpatient and inpatient care and hands-on supervised procedures.
Principal’s Message
