About The College

Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) began functioning in 2015 under the Andaman & Nicobar Medical Education and Research Society. It holds affiliation with Pondicherry University and approval from the National Medical Commission. The campus stretches over 107 acres at Atlanta Point, Port Blair, and includes two academic blocks. It features advanced lecture halls, departmental museums, digital libraries, well-equipped laboratories, simulation centers, and hostels for both genders.

Faculty follow the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) model, which ensures a structured progression of medical training through case discussions, integrated sessions, and regular formative evaluations. Students receive early clinical exposure across major disciplines from the first phase. The institute supports learning with smart technology, and it continues to improve through collaborations, internal audits, and curriculum-based research efforts.

About The Hospital

ANIIMS connects with G.B. Pant Hospital, which holds 478 operational beds under a centrally supported upgrade scheme. The hospital acts as the primary tertiary care and referral center for all three districts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Departments include General Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, ENT, Radiology, Psychiatry, and Intensive Care.

The hospital also offers services in Cardiology, Nephrology, and Pediatric Surgery, meeting super-specialty care needs in remote island settings. Students rotate through outpatient departments, inpatient wards, and emergency care units, where they develop diagnostic and procedural skills under supervision.

Seats In College

ANIIMS has an approved intake of 114 MBBS seats for the academic year 2024–25. The seat matrix consists of 17 seats under the All India Quota and 97 seats under the state quota. Among the state quota seats, 10 are reserved for EWS candidates while 87 go to local category aspirants. All admissions proceed via NEET UG, with AIQ handled by MCC and state quota by the island government’s counselling authority.

Fees Structure

ANIIMS maintains a government-regulated and affordable fee structure. Students under both government and All India Quota pay ₹1,58,200 per year.
