Bkl Walawalkar Rural Medical College stands in Sawarde village, Chiplun Taluka, Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra. Established in 2015 by Shri Vithalrao Joshi Charities Trust, the college focuses on rural healthcare and medical education across the Konkan region. It functions under Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and holds approval from the National Medical Commission. From the 2024–25 session, the college admits 150 students into its MBBS program each year. Students learn within a wwell-developed campus that includes digital lecture halls, advanced labs, academic wings, a central library, and separate hostels. The college trains doctors wwho serve ethically and efficiently in underserved communities.
About The Hospital
Bkl Walawalkar Hospital began operations before the college and now supports its clinical training. This 500-bed multi-specialty hospital runs services in general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, gynecology, dermatology, radiology, and ent. Advanced sections include icu, nicu, dialysis, and cancer care. Students participate in hands-on learning through daily rounds, specialty clinics, and rural health camps. The hospital provides affordable, quality services to the tribal and local populations of the Konkan region, while giving medical students broad and meaningful clinical exposure.
