About the College
Dhubri Medical College and Hospital began in 2022 to strengthen healthcare and medical education in lower Assam. It stands as the ninth government medical college in the state. The institution runs under the Health and Family Welfare Department of Assam. It affiliates with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati. The National Medical Commission has granted approval for its MBBS program.
The campus covers nearly 36 acres. It includes academic buildings, air-conditioned lecture halls, advanced laboratories, and a central library. Separate hostels exist for boys and girls. Staff quarters also form part of the campus. The college uses the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) model. Students benefit from early clinical exposure and hands-on training. They also take part in seminars, group learning, and regular assessments. Faculty members support each student with structured academic mentoring and integrated teaching.
About the Hospital
The attached teaching hospital runs with a capacity of 500 beds. It serves people from Dhubri and nearby areas. The hospital runs departments such as medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, ENT, psychiatry, dermatology, radiology, and anesthesia.
Key facilities include modular OTs, ICU, NICU, and emergency care. Diagnostic services like CT scans, X-rays, and ultrasound support patient care. A 24/7 pharmacy and a functional blood bank also remain available. Students gain clinical exposure early in their training. They learn through OPD visits, inpatient care, and emergency management. The hospital also supports national health programs like Ayushman Bharat and maternal health schemes. These programs offer students practical exposure to real-world healthcare delivery.
