About the College
Government Medical College (GMC) Aurangabad started on August 15, 1956, coinciding with India’s 10th Independence Day. It began with 50 students in a small Nizam Bungalow and has grown into a major medical institution in the Marathwada region. The college is affiliated with Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Today, it focuses on high-quality medical education, community healthcare, and advanced research, producing skilled and ethical doctors for society.
About the Hospital
The college is linked to a large teaching hospital that started in 1960 with 300 beds and has expanded to 1,170 beds. This multi-super specialty tertiary care hospital includes modern ICUs, trauma care units, and advanced diagnostic facilities. Students receive extensive clinical exposure here, treating a wide range of cases and learning directly from experienced doctors while serving the healthcare needs of the community.

GMC Aurangabad admits 200 MBBS students every year. In addition, it offers about 127 postgraduate (MD/MS) seats across various specialties and also provides super-specialty courses such as DM and MCh programs. These opportunities help students advance in multiple medical fields and specialties.
