About the College

Government Medical College (GMC) Chandrapur began in 2015 to strengthen healthcare access and medical education in the Vidarbha region. It is affiliated with Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The college focuses on creating skilled, ethical, and compassionate doctors who can meet both rural and urban healthcare needs.

About the Hospital

The college works with the District Civil Hospital, which now has 745 beds. Initially, it started with a 100-bed District TB Hospital that later merged with the civil hospital. This teaching hospital provides broad clinical exposure for students and delivers healthcare across multiple specialties. A new campus is under development with a modern hospital and a dedicated cancer hospital in collaboration with Tata Cancer Care Foundation, improving future clinical learning and services.

Dean Dr. Milind Kamble leads the institution with a focus on quality education and advanced patient care. His vision includes producing competent and caring healthcare professionals who can contribute to both clinical excellence and public health initiatives in the region.

Seats in College

Government Medical College Chandrapur offers 150 MBBS seats annually, increased from 100 in 2019-20. The college also provides postgraduate programs (MD/MS) with around 65 seats across multiple specialties, strengthening advanced medical training opportunities.

The mission of GMC Chandrapur is to improve healthcare services and medical education, reducing regional disparities. Its vision focuses on providing fast, efficient, and high-quality healthcare to both rural and urban populations while producing skilled doctors capable of reducing mortality and improving public health outcomes.

Fee Structure

Government Medical College Chandrapur offers affordable education. The MBBS course fee is approximately ₹1.33 lakh per year, with the total program cost ranging from ₹5.72 lakh to ₹6.22 lakh. Postgraduate MD/MS courses cost around ₹3.43 lakh to ₹4.45 lakh for the entire duration. Hostel fees are about ₹4,300 per year, with minimal one-time charges. Reserved category students receive significant fee relaxation as per state rules.
