About the College
Government Medical College, Parippally, located in Kollam, began under the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). In 2016, the Government of Kerala officially took over its management. This marked a major boost for the state’s healthcare and education system. The first MBBS batch started in August 2017. Since then, the college has grown steadily. It is affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and focuses on producing competent and ethical doctors. With a commitment to academic strength and service, the college continues to play a key role in Kerala’s medical education landscape.
About the Hospital
Attached to the college is a well-equipped 500-bed teaching hospital. It serves as a lifeline for surrounding communities and also supports student training. The hospital handles over 500 OPD patients daily, proving its importance in the region. It includes departments such as General Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Psychiatry, Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Radiology. With such wide-ranging departments, students get hands-on experience in various specialties. At the same time, patients receive complete and effective care under one roof.

Seats in College
Government Medical College, Parippally, offers 110 MBBS seats each year. These are filled through NEET rankings under State Quota, ESIC Quota, and All India Quota. In addition, the college also offers postgraduate MD/MS seats in Pathology, Microbiology, Community Medicine, and Forensic Medicine. Each of these specialties has 2 seats. It also offers a diploma program in Medical Laboratory Technology, expanding the scope of paramedical education.

These fees support quality education at both UG and PG levels while keeping it within reach for deserving students.
