Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), located in Madikeri, Karnataka, is a government-run institution that began its journey in 2016. Operated under the Government of Karnataka, it holds affiliation with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru, and recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Spanning 22 acres, the college features contemporary infrastructure with fully equipped lecture halls, advanced laboratories, and a central library that supports both print and digital academic resources. It offers undergraduate MBBS and B.Sc. Nursing programs, along with postgraduate MD/MS degrees and paramedical diploma courses. Students benefit from well-designed classrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, modern skills labs, and a supportive environment for academic and clinical growth.

About the Hospital

KIMS, Kodagu is affiliated with the Kodagu District Hospital in Madikeri, which plays a vital role in the hands-on training of medical students. This hospital, with around 319 functional beds, serves as a comprehensive healthcare provider in the region.

It supports clinical education in key specialties such as General Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Dermatology, and Forensic Medicine. It also maintains a fully operational 24/7 emergency department, diagnostic services, and blood bank facilities. Medical students participate actively in patient care during their postings, which ensures robust clinical exposure from early years.

Seats in College

Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences offers 150 MBBS seats each academic year. These seats are filled through NEET-UG rankings. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) handles 15% of seats through the All India Quota, while the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) oversees the remaining 85% through state counseling.
