About the College
Kokrajhar Medical College opened in 2023 as part of Assam’s effort to expand medical access in the Bodoland region. The Government of Assam established the college under the Directorate of Medical Education. It holds affiliation with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences and approval from the National Medical Commission for the MBBS course.
The newly built campus includes academic blocks with lecture halls, seminar rooms, and smart classrooms. It also features modern laboratories for pre-clinical and para-clinical subjects. A central library and digital learning tools support academic activities. Additionally, hostels for boys and girls provide secure and well-equipped accommodation. The college adopts the CBME model, which integrates clinical exposure from the first year itself. Students also engage in practical training and community-based activities.
About the Hospital
The attached teaching hospital includes more than 500 beds and delivers care to Kokrajhar and nearby districts. It offers services through outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, intensive care units, and emergency blocks. Departments like medicine, surgery, pediatrics, OB-GYN, orthopedics, ENT, and radiology ensure broad exposure.
The hospital also features modular OTs, diagnostic labs, and a blood bank. Round-the-clock emergency services enhance learning through real-time patient care. Students gain experience in primary and specialty care settings. Clinical rounds, bedside teaching, and procedures take place under the guidance of faculty. Assam state quota students may need to sign a bond to serve in public healthcare institutions after graduation. This model strengthens healthcare availability in underserved regions.
