Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGM Medical College), Jamshedpur, started on November 14, 1961. Initially a private institute, it came under government control in 1979. Now, it operates as a state-run medical college under Jharkhand and is affiliated with Kolhan University, Chaibasa. The National Medical Commission recognizes the college for MBBS, MD/MS, and Diploma courses in various medical specialties. Its 45-acre campus offers a green and peaceful environment with all essential academic facilities. The institute continues to grow as one of the top government medical colleges in Jharkhand.
About the Hospital
The college hospital, located in Sakchi, functions as a 540-bed multi-specialty teaching facility. It plays a major role in serving the local population while training future doctors. The hospital features OPD units, inpatient wards, emergency services, operation theatres, a central diagnostic lab, a blood bank, and 24×7 pharmacy services. It delivers extensive clinical care daily, with an OPD footfall of 600–700 patients on average. The hospital provides students with hands-on clinical exposure and real-world patient interactions across medical and surgical specialties.

Hostel fees are approximately ₹6,000 per year, along with a refundable security deposit and mess advance. Mess fees remain separate.
