Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) is an autonomous government medical college located in Mandya, Karnataka. Established in 2005, the institute welcomed its first MBBS batch in 2006. It lies on National Highway 275, connecting Bengaluru and Mysuru, offering both accessibility and a serene academic environment.
The institute affiliates with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru, and holds recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC). Spread across 25 acres, the campus features modern lecture halls, simulation labs, specialized departments, and a central library that supports undergraduate and postgraduate education. The college offers MBBS, BDS, B.Sc. Nursing, MD/MS, and several paramedical diploma programs.
About the Hospital
The teaching hospital attached to MIMS operates with a bed capacity ranging from 550 to 650. This multi-specialty hospital provides clinical training in fields such as Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and more.
The hospital features state-of-the-art medical infrastructure, including an Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU), Medical ICU, NICU, AC Labor Ward, and a Regional Diagnostic Lab. A well-maintained blood bank and 24/7 emergency services ensure quality care and a diverse clinical experience for students. MIMS functions under a Governing Council led by the Karnataka Minister for Medical Education. The Director oversees administrative functions, while Dr. Shivakumar K. M. currently serves as the Principal. Even though a formal message is not publicly shared, the leadership emphasizes discipline, academic integrity, and service-driven training. The management remains committed to transforming students into ethical and skilled medical professionals.
Seats in College
MIMS Mandya offers 150 MBBS seats annually. NEET-UG scores determine admission, and 85% of seats go to Karnataka domicile candidates, while the remaining 15% fall under the All India Quota.
The college also offers MD/MS courses in multiple specialties. These postgraduate seats are split evenly between state and national quotas. In addition, the institute provides diploma programs in various paramedical fields, each with an intake of 20 students.
