About the College

Nagaon Medical College, located in Diphalu near Laokhowa Road, began operations in 2023. The Government of Assam established the college to expand healthcare and medical education in central Assam. It affiliates with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati, and holds recognition from the National Medical Commission.

The college admits 100 MBBS students every year. The curriculum follows the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) model. This approach offers early clinical exposure, hands-on training, and continuous evaluation. The campus features digital classrooms, academic blocks, seminar halls, labs for pre-clinical and para-clinical subjects, and a central library. Separate hostels for boys and girls, intern quarters, and staff housing ensure a fully residential setup for learning.


About the Hospital

The teaching hospital at Nagaon Medical College functions as a key referral center for the region. It offers 24/7 emergency care, outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and intensive care facilities. Key departments include General Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, and Radiology.

Students receive broad exposure across departments and community postings during the program.
