About the college

NAMO Medical Education & Research Institute, also known as Government Medical College, Silvassa, functions as a premier government institution in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Founded in 2019, the college began as a central initiative to boost healthcare education in the Union Territory. Veer Narmad South Gujarat University grants its affiliation, while the National Medical Commission has granted it full recognition.

This institution spans 15–20 acres and houses high-end classrooms, modern laboratories, and a central library. Students benefit from an academic ecosystem that integrates clinical exposure with digital learning. Moreover, the MBBS curriculum blends foundational sciences with applied medical practice. Learners here gain real-world clinical skills under experienced faculty.

Since its launch, the college has committed to providing a structured, learner-focused atmosphere. It also encourages outreach activities and rural postings that prepare students for the region’s healthcare needs. Ultimately, the institute supports future doctors who are competent, ethical, and service-oriented.

About the hospital

The teaching hospital linked with the college is Shri Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital, located in Silvassa. It currently offers 650 operational beds, with a proposed expansion to 1250 beds in future phases. The facility includes departments like general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, and gynecology.

This multi-specialty hospital provides round-the-clock emergency services, advanced ICUs, modern OTs, and diagnostic labs. Moreover, students gain valuable clinical exposure in both urban and semi-rural healthcare settings. Each rotation gives students in-depth access to diverse cases and treatment protocols.

In addition, the hospital supports super-specialty wings and outreach health services that align with the public health needs of the region. These factors make it a central hub for both medical service delivery and student training.

Principal’s message

Dr. Ram Chandra Goyal, the Dean, welcomes students with a vision rooted in innovation, discipline, and public service. His message focuses on transforming students into medical professionals who blend clinical knowledge with compassion and ethical conduct.

He emphasizes the state-of-the-art infrastructure, which includes Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, gender-segregated hostels, digital labs, and recreational zones. In addition, he stresses holistic growth through co-curricular programs. According to him, students here do not just earn a degree—they prepare for lifelong contributions to public health.

Seats in college

The college admits 177 MBBS students each academic year. NEET UG scores determine admissions. Of the total, 15% fall under the All India Quota, and 85% are allotted to the State Quota, which includes special reservations for candidates from Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

Admission policies ensure transparency and aim to represent underserved regions. As a result, this seat matrix helps bridge regional health gaps while upholding merit-based selection.
