Research Departments

Patanjali Ayurveda College is integrated with the Patanjali Research Foundation and related research arms, such as the Patanjali Research Institute. These entities are organized into specialized divisions:

  • Drug Discovery & Development Division: Equipped with modern labs accredited by NABL, DSIR, DBT, and possessing a CPCSEA-approved animal house, along with formal ethics committees (IAEC, IBSC, IEC) to guide research ethics and quality.
  • Herbal Research Division: Led by Acharya Balkrishna, this division focuses on the documentation and scientific study of medicinal plants, including the composition of encyclopedic botanical works, drug standardization, and preservation of ancient manuscripts.
  • Clinical Research Division: Concentrates on translating laboratory discoveries into effective patient therapies, emphasizing evidence-based practice.
  • Yoga Research Department: Conducts physiological and clinical experiments investigating the effects of yoga and pranayama under established ethical guidance, with participation from global experts like Dr. Shirley Telles.

  • Clinical Research Workshops: In October 2023, a two-day workshop on advanced clinical research, featuring distinguished experts from institutions such as AIIMS, introduced students and scholars to best practices in Ayurveda research.
  • Herbal Medicine Innovation: Projects aim at drug discovery and standardization, including preclinical toxicology, pharmacognosy, and establishing safety protocols.
  • Cultural and Herbal Archive Works: There is a large-scale effort to compile a World Herbal Encyclopedia, conserve rare plant species, publish ancient manuscripts, and boost scientific output on medicinal flora.

-The Ministry of AYUSH convened the International Conference on Harmonizing Ayurveda, Technology, and Innovation in October 2024. The Centre of Excellence at Patanjali Research Foundation organized the event.
