About the College
Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College & Hospital, known as SCB Medical College, Cuttack, ranks among India’s oldest medical schools. It began on 1 June 1944 and now spreads across 87–101 acres in Cuttack. As one of Odisha’s leading institutions, it holds affiliation with Odisha University of Health Sciences. The college offers MBBS, MD/MS, and super-specialty programs like DM and MCh in multiple disciplines. SCB grew from the Orissa Medical School under the guidance of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanj Deo. It blends rich heritage with modern facilities to maintain its academic reputation.
About the Hospital
SCB’s hospital stands as a major healthcare provider in Odisha. It delivers high-quality medical services to a large patient base, most of them free of cost. The hospital houses specialty and super-specialty departments, offering students strong clinical exposure. It also includes renowned centers like Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre for cancer treatment and research, and the Regional Spinal Injury Centre. These units strengthen SCB’s role in advanced healthcare and specialized patient care.
Principal’s Message
Dr. Goutam Satpathy became the Superintendent in May 2025 after leading the Orthopaedics department. He focuses on improving patient services, expanding infrastructure, and creating a supportive environment for staff and patients. His leadership emphasizes progress in both medical education and healthcare delivery.
Seats in College
SCB admits 250 MBBS students annually through NEET-UG. Of these, 85% fall under the Odisha State Quota and 15% under the All India Quota. The college also offers over 220 postgraduate seats and about 42 super-specialty seats. Specialties include Cardiology, Neurology, Urology, Pediatric Surgery, and Plastic Surgery.
Fees Structure
For MBBS, total tuition for all years is around ₹1,18,256 as per 2025–26 estimates. Annual charges include ₹3,500 for tuition and other fees, making a total of about ₹76,450. Fees may vary based on seat quota and institutional costs.
