About the College
SVIMS – Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women, established in 2014 in Tirupati, became the second government medical college in India dedicated exclusively to women. Functioning under the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) University, the institution holds approval from the National Medical Commission.
Spread across a 50-acre campus, the college features a modern academic infrastructure that includes smart lecture halls, advanced laboratories, departmental museums, and simulation centers. The central library houses over 11,500 books and serves as a resource hub for both academics and research. The institution maintains a women-friendly campus with secure, separate hostels and a large auditorium for academic and extracurricular activities.
The college follows the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) framework. From the first year, students engage in early clinical exposure, small group discussions, interactive teaching, and continuous assessments. Research orientation is integrated into the undergraduate experience, fostering critical thinking and innovation.
About the Hospital
Students at the college receive hands-on clinical training at SVIMS Hospital and Sri Venkateswara Ramnarain Ruia Government General Hospital. Combined, these facilities offer around 1,500 beds, 27 operating theaters, and 25 ICU units, creating a robust platform for clinical learning.
Rotational postings include departments like General Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Radiology, Pathology, Emergency Medicine, and super-specialty units. Under expert faculty guidance, students take part in outpatient care, inpatient rounds, diagnostic procedures, and emergency services, ensuring well-rounded clinical exposure.

Seats in College
SVIMS – Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women admits 175 MBBS students each year. Originally sanctioned for 150 seats, the intake expanded with the introduction of the EWS quota. Admissions take place through NEET-UG, and counseling is conducted under three quotas:
- All India Quota: 15%
- State Quota: 70%
- NRI Quota: 15% (approximately 23 seats)
