B. J. Medical College (BJMC), Ahmedabad, stands as one of India’s oldest and most respected government medical colleges. The institution began as Ahmedabad Medical School in 1871 and received its current name in 1946, in honor of philanthropist Sir Byramjee Jeejeebhoy. In 1951, BJMC affiliated with Gujarat University for its undergraduate program, followed by its postgraduate courses in 1956. About the Hospital
BJMC operates in partnership with Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, one of the largest public hospitals in Asia. Civil Hospital houses super-specialty centers such as the U. N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and the Institute of Kidney Disease.
