Gandhi Medical College (GMC) Bhopal started in 1955 and earned autonomous status in 1997. It functions under the Gandhi Medical College Society and the Department of Medical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The college affiliates with Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University Jabalpur and holds recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC). The campus lies inside the historic Fatehgarh Fort and overlooks the Upper Lake, blending heritage with modern learning infrastructure. It offers updated lecture halls, advanced laboratories, and a central library to support medical education and research.
About the Hospital
GMC links with the Jaya Arogya Group of Hospitals, where Hamidia Hospital serves as the main teaching hospital. This group includes 2,000 beds and offers advanced tertiary care facilities. It provides outpatient and inpatient services, specialty treatment, and 24×7 emergency care. The presence of Sultania Zanana Hospital for women and children further strengthens clinical learning opportunities.
