About the College
Goa Medical College (GMC), located in Bambolim near Panaji, holds the distinction of being one of Asia’s oldest medical colleges. Founded in 1842 as Escola Médico-Cirúrgica da Goa during Portuguese rule, it transformed into Goa Medical College in 1963 following the state’s liberation. The institution operates under affiliation with Goa University and has earned recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC).

About the Hospital
Goa Medical College integrates seamlessly with its multi-specialty teaching hospital, also known as Goa Medical College Hospital. The hospital supports over 1,500 inpatient beds and offers care across departments like Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, and Neurology.
Moreover, the institution manages auxiliary centers such as the TB and Chest Disease Hospital in St. Inez and the Rural Health and Training Centre in Mandur. Emergency services run around the clock. Equipped with ICUs, diagnostic labs, CT scans, and blood banks, the hospital ensures hands-on clinical training.

Seats in College
Goa Medical College admits 200 students each year into its MBBS program. Selection is based strictly on NEET UG merit. Counseling follows a quota system: 15% of seats are filled through the All India Quota, while the remaining 85% are allotted under the State Quota.
Candidates must apply through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for AIQ or the Directorate of Technical Education, Goa, for state-level counseling. This structured process ensures transparency and merit-based selection.
