Nandkumar Singh Chouhan Government Medical College, Shahdol, established in 2018 under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), focuses on quality medical education and healthcare services. Renamed in 2021 to honor the late Shri Nandkumar Singh Chauhan, the college operates under Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur, and holds recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The 41-acre campus offers a modern educational environment featuring ultra-modern lecture halls, advanced laboratories, seminar rooms, an examination hall, and a fully equipped library. About the Hospital
The college hospital plays a key role in clinical training and community healthcare delivery. With 300 to 525 teaching beds, it offers tertiary-level healthcare services to the region. The hospital includes 24×7 emergency and trauma care, OPD and IPD departments, burn care facilities, critical care units, and specialized services like an eye bank and blood bank. GMC Shahdol admits 100 MBBS students annually. The college also offers postgraduate MD/MS courses in specialties like Forensic Medicine, ENT, Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, and Community Medicine. Additionally, it runs paramedical programs to strengthen allied healthcare education.

Hostel fees are approximately INR 12,000 annually. Postgraduate courses have similar annual fees of INR 1,00,000. MBBS students must serve one year in rural service or pay a penalty of INR 10,00,000.
