About the College
Shyam Shah Medical College (SSMC), Rewa, started in 1963 and remains one of the oldest medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh. It honors Shri Shyam Shah Singh, a local hero of the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny. The college affiliates with Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur, and holds recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The campus provides modern academic buildings, advanced laboratories, and a central library. Students also access recreational facilities, creating a balanced learning environment. About the Hospital
SSMC connects with two major hospitals – the 1,100-bedded Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital and Gandhi Memorial Hospital. The Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital runs 24/7 and delivers trauma care, emergency services, and specialty treatment. It also houses a modern blood bank with advanced features.
Furthermore, the 200-bedded Super Specialty Block (SSB) provides advanced care in neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, and nephrology. Because of these facilities, students gain diverse clinical exposure and real-time experience. Patients from across the region benefit from quality treatment under expert supervision.

Seats in College
The MBBS program admits 150 students every year. For postgraduate studies, the college offers 50 MD/MS/Diploma seats in departments like Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, and Radiology. In addition, the School of Nursing and paramedical courses add to the healthcare workforce development.

MD/MS programs cost around INR 3.37 Lakhs to INR 3.43 Lakhs for three years. Diploma courses have a first-year fee of about INR 74,000. Hostel fees range from INR 12,000 to INR 18,000 per year. Scholarships like the Mukhya Mantri Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojana (MMVY) and Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) support eligible students, often covering tuition but including a rural service bond.
