About the College
Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (MAPIMS) began in 2008 under the Adhiparasakthi Charitable Medical Educational & Cultural Trust. Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in Chennai grants affiliation, and the National Medical Commission grants recognition. The college sits along NH-45 in Melmaruvathur, about 92 km from Chennai and 70 km from Pondicherry. The campus spans a modern setup with smart classrooms, simulation centers, digital learning spaces, and a well-stocked medical library. MAPIMS offers MBBS, MD, and MS programs with a curriculum that blends academic excellence, clinical ethics, and research.
About the Hospital
MAPIMS operates a high-volume teaching hospital that began in 1986. The hospital now delivers free medical care to over 750 villages across rural Tamil Nadu. It houses over 1,000 functional beds across departments such as general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, and emergency medicine. It includes advanced ICUs, trauma care units, diagnostic labs, and modular operating theatres. The hospital gives students consistent hands-on training through a high patient load and full clinical rotations.
