About the College

Dr. D Y Patil Medical College, Kolhapur, was established in 1989 under the D. Y. Patil Education Society, a deemed-to-be university. This institution runs a 150-seat MBBS program aligned with the competency-based medical curriculum. It combines academic rigor with hands-on training across a technologically equipped campus that includes smart lecture halls, digital labs, and a central library. Recognized by the National Medical Commission and accredited with NAAC grades, the college also offers postgraduate education in approximately 12 medical disciplines. Through NEET UG, it admits students under general, management, and NRI quotas.

About the Hospital

Affiliated with the college, Shalinitai Meghe Hospital & Research Centre acts as its tertiary-care teaching facility. The hospital maintains between 750 and 850 beds and hosts a range of specialized departments. These include ICUs for adults, newborns, and children, NABL-accredited labs, blood bank services, radiology, and modular operation theatres. Notably, it operates 24×7 emergency services and attracts a substantial patient load from Kolhapur and neighboring districts. Consequently, students gain early and consistent clinical exposure across a diverse patient base.

Seats in College

The college offers 150 MBBS seats annually. Among them, 128 belong to the general/deemed category, while 22 are allocated to NRI or institutional candidates. Furthermore, the college provides around 87 seats in MD/MS programs, spanning fields such as General Medicine, Pediatrics, Radiology, and Surgery. All admissions are conducted through centralized NEET counselling, managed by MCC and NMC guidelines.

Fees Structure

For MBBS, the merit quota fee is approximately ₹23.1 lakh per annum, inclusive of tuition and development charges. NRI candidates pay USD 36,000 annually. Additionally, hostel and mess fees stand at about ₹1 lakh per year. Postgraduate tuition varies widely: MD Radiology costs around ₹39.35 lakh, MD Pathology ₹12.2 lakh, and MD Medicine or MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology ₹29–31 lakh. The PG NRI quota fee is approximately USD 77,000 per year.
