Maharashtra Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Latur
About The College
Maharashtra Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (MIMSR), located in Latur, began in 1990 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad and operates through MAEER’s MIT World Peace Centre. The college stands on a 100-acre campus on Ambajogai Road and holds recognition from the National Medical Commission. It receives academic affiliation from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The institution follows the competency-based MBBS curriculum and admits 150 students annually through NEET UG.
MIMSR commits to values-based education, blending clinical expertise with ethics, empathy, and public health. Students receive foundational exposure to diagnostics, communication, and real-world clinical application from the early phases of their training. The academic atmosphere promotes research, leadership, and responsibility toward underserved populations, particularly in rural regions.
About The Hospital
Yeshwantrao Chavan Rural Hospital serves as the attached teaching facility. The hospital includes approximately 600 to 750 beds and offers comprehensive services in general medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, OBGY, orthopedics, emergency trauma care, dialysis, ICU, NICU, and CT/MRI diagnostics. Students learn in a high-volume setting that includes NABL-certified labs and well-equipped modular OTs.
Because the hospital caters to a large population across rural and urban belts, students gain substantial exposure to clinical cases. Faculty encourage learning through community camps, public health drives, and patient care across various departments, providing consistent clinical immersion throughout the MBBS program.
Principal’s Message
At MIMSR, we nurture doctors who lead with skill and compassion. Our focus extends beyond classroom instruction. We emphasize direct patient care, community service, and applied learning. Our faculty work closely with students, guiding them through simulations, clinical work, and research. As students engage with real healthcare challenges, they grow into professionals capable of ethical, informed, and patient-centric decisions.

MIMSR offers 150 MBBS seats each academic year. Admission takes place via NEET UG under 85 percent state quota and 15 percent institutional/NRI quota. In addition, the institute provides around 38 to 44 postgraduate MD/MS seats across clinical and pre-clinical specialties.
