About The College
Government Medical College, Machilipatnam, started its operations in 2023. The college came up under major government infrastructure renewal programs. It affiliates with Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, and has received recognition from the National Medical Commission. The campus spreads across 30 acres and lies close to the Government General Hospital.
Students at GMC Machilipatnam learn in smart classrooms and modern laboratories. They also gain exposure through departmental museums, a digital library, and well-equipped simulation labs. Separate hostels support residential learning for both male and female students. Faculty follow the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) model. Through this, students begin case-based learning early and engage in structured assessments that track their clinical progress from the first year.
About The Hospital
The attached teaching hospital operates under the Government General Hospital. Under the NPR upgrades, the facility grew from 330 to 553 beds. It includes major departments like General Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, OBG, Orthopedics, ENT, Radiology, Emergency Medicine, and Critical Care.
Every day, students work in OPD areas, inpatient wards, diagnostic labs, and procedure rooms. They learn clinical skills under constant faculty mentorship. With heavy patient inflow from Krishna district and nearby areas, students receive real-time learning experiences in both acute and chronic care.

Seats In College
GMC Machilipatnam currently offers 150 MBBS seats every year. Admissions follow NEET-UG performance and take place through centralized counseling. The seat distribution includes 85% under the state quota and 15% through the All India quota.
