About the College

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Guwahati began MBBS teaching in 2021 to enhance medical education and healthcare in northeast India. Located in Changsari, this institute functions under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. AIIMS Guwahati forms part of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana and carries the central government’s aim to bring world-class healthcare and education closer to underserved regions.

The academic campus spans over 189 acres and includes fully equipped lecture halls, practical labs, skill and simulation centers, library access, and digital learning resources. Students follow the CBME model, combining theory, ethics, research exposure, and early clinical practice. Faculty promote integrated teaching, critical thinking, and continuous improvement. About the Hospital

The AIIMS Guwahati hospital supports 750 beds and delivers high-end tertiary healthcare to people in Assam and other northeastern states. The hospital houses departments such as medicine, pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, psychiatry, ENT, dermatology, gynecology, radiology, and anesthesia. Intensive Care Units, modern diagnostics, emergency services, and operating theaters run with advanced equipment.

Clinical exposure begins from early semesters, aligning with the CBME framework. Students engage in patient care, ward rounds, and case studies under expert guidance. The hospital also implements government health schemes, conducts outreach camps, and provides subsidized treatment to underserved populations.
