About the College
Government Medical College, Porbandar, began operations in 2022. The Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) established this institute to expand access to medical education across the coastal region. It functions under the affiliation of Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University, Junagadh. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted full recognition to its academic programs.
Located on a 30-acre campus, the college provides excellent infrastructure with updated classrooms, modern laboratories, and a rich library. About the Hospital
Civil Hospital, Porbandar, acts as the teaching hospital for GMERS Medical College. With a capacity of 330 beds, the hospital handles a wide range of medical services daily. It includes critical departments such as ICU, NICU, ICCU, casualty, radiology, and pathology labs. Moreover, the facility features modern operating theatres and a labor room to ensure maternity care.
Students receive continuous clinical exposure through ward postings, emergency care shifts, and real patient interactions. As the hospital operates round-the-clock, learners benefit from uninterrupted practical experience. Additionally, the hospital serves as a vital link between classroom instruction and real-world application.
Principal’s Message

Seats in College
Each year, the college admits 100 students into the MBBS program. The selection process relies solely on NEET UG scores. Of these seats, 85% belong to the Gujarat State Quota, while the remaining 15% fall under the All India Quota.
The Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) handles the state-level counseling. Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) manages the All India seat allotment. Together, they ensure that every seat is filled transparently and based on merit.

Students pursuing MBBS under the Government Quota pay approximately INR 3,75,000 annually. Those opting for the Management Quota pay around INR 12,00,000 per year. For NRI Quota candidates, the annual fee stands at approximately USD 25,000.
