Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College, Nalhar
About the college
Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College (SHKM GMC) stands in Nalhar, Nuh district, Haryana, as a key government institution dedicated to medical education. Established in 2012, the college welcomed its first MBBS batch the same year. It operates under the affiliation of Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, and holds recognition from the National Medical Commission.
Spread across more than 280 acres, the campus features spacious academic blocks, modern lecture halls, fully equipped laboratories, and a central library. Because of its location and infrastructure, SHKM GMC offers an ideal environment for learning and research, especially for students passionate about rural healthcare and community service.
About the hospital
SHKM GMC runs alongside a 600-bedded multi-specialty hospital, which is in the process of expanding to 700 beds. This hospital functions as the primary clinical training ground for students. It offers 24/7 emergency and trauma care, surgical and diagnostic services, and specialized medical treatment.
Serving the Mewat region—a historically underserved area—the hospital sees a high patient volume every day. As a result, students gain exposure to a wide range of clinical conditions and learn to practice medicine in resource-constrained settings. This practical training sharpens their diagnostic skills and builds their ability to serve rural communities effectively.
Principal’s message
Dr. V.K. Das, Director of SHKM GMC, believes in shaping doctors who blend professional competence with compassion. Under his guidance, the college continues to focus on educational quality, rural health service, and the development of ethical medical professionals. His leadership vision centers on empowering students to address the healthcare needs of underserved populations.
