Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS), founded in 2007, is a government autonomous medical college located in the northern Karnataka city of Bidar. Affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), BRIMS offers MBBS and postgraduate MD/MS programs. The college spans nearly 45 acres and houses lecture halls, laboratories, hostels, faculty housing, and administrative buildings. With a structured academic environment and strong clinical integration, BRIMS trains future doctors through a blend of foundational science, clinical exposure, and research.
About the Hospital
The college runs a 750-bedded teaching hospital, upgraded from the original 300-bedded district hospital. This hospital now functions as the primary clinical hub for BRIMS and serves the surrounding population with essential and specialized healthcare services. Departments such as general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, ENT, gynecology, and more offer hands-on training for students. Advanced diagnostic labs, emergency units, ICUs, and well-equipped operation theatres provide an ideal platform for clinical skill development. The hospital’s growing patient load gives students the opportunity to witness diverse medical conditions and apply evidence-based treatments under supervision.

Seats in College
BRIMS offers 150 MBBS seats every year, and admission is conducted based on NEET UG scores through centralized counseling. The college also offers postgraduate seats in multiple specialties via NEET PG merit. While the number of PG seats varies by department, the intake continues to expand as the college develops its infrastructure and faculty strength. These programs ensure continuity of medical education and skill advancement beyond the undergraduate level.

Fees Structure
The tuition fee for MBBS under the government quota at BRIMS stands at approximately ₹65,100 per year. Over the full course of 5.5 years, this totals around ₹5.15 Lakhs. Hostel charges add about ₹20,000 per year, and mess fees range between ₹3,500 and ₹5,000 monthly. During the compulsory internship period, students receive a stipend of ₹30,000 per month, which supports them financially while they work full-time in hospital departments. PG students also receive stipends, aligned with state norms, during their residency.
