About The College
Dr Vasantrao Pawar Medical College began its journey in 1990 under the Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj in Nashik. It occupies nearly 54 acres and features fully equipped lecture halls, advanced laboratories, smart classrooms, and a central library with more than 17,000 medical volumes. The institution maintains recognition from the National Medical Commission and has long-standing affiliation with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. From its inception, the college has implemented the competency-based MBBS curriculum. Each year, 120 students gain admission through NEET-UG rankings. That is to say, 85% of seats fall under Maharashtra state counselling and the remaining 15% under the NRI quota.
About The Hospital
The teaching hospital attached to the college offers nearly 960 beds and runs multiple critical care units such as adult ICU, NICU, and PICU. It also operates a trauma center, 16 modular operation theatres, a cath lab, dialysis services, and NABL-accredited diagnostic labs. Furthermore, the hospital maintains a blood bank and delivers treatment to both urban and tribal populations across the Nashik region. In addition, the facility provides completely free OPD and IPD services under various government health schemes. As a result, patient footfall remains steady at approximately 650 OPD visits daily, providing students with meaningful exposure to real-world medical practice.
Principal’s Message
The principal believes that medical education must cultivate not just competence, but compassion and social engagement. He emphasizes early clinical exposure and structured mentoring throughout the course. In other words, students learn by doing, thinking, and serving from the outset. He encourages strong ethics, sharp diagnostic acumen, and meaningful participation in medical research. Above all, he envisions the college as a training ground for socially conscious physicians committed to public well-being.
Seats In College
The college offers 120 MBBS seats every year through NEET-UG. Admissions happen primarily under the Maharashtra state quota, with 15% reserved for NRI students. Moreover, the college hosts 58 postgraduate MD/MS seats spread across 14 clinical and pre-clinical disciplines. These include 5 each in General Medicine, General Surgery, and Radiodiagnosis; 6 in Orthopaedics; 4 in Anaesthesiology; and smaller capacities in Dermatology, Pathology, and Paediatrics. To clarify, all PG admissions follow state counselling guidelines and institutional allotments based on NEET-PG performance.
Mission And Vision
The college commits itself to advancing medical education with integrity, research, and service to humanity. Its mission reflects a focus on regional healthcare needs, particularly in tribal and underserved areas. It trains students to handle the diverse medical demands of both rural and urban populations. Similarly, the institution cultivates values of professionalism, empathy, and scientific excellence. In short, it prepares future doctors not only to treat but also to lead, heal, and transform the communities they serve.
Fees Structure
For the 2024–25 academic year, MBBS tuition ranges from ₹9.62 lakh to ₹11 lakh annually for the general category. Meanwhile, management and NRI quota fees can rise to approximately ₹48.96 lakh per year. Hostel and mess charges for MBBS students come bundled with tuition, though rates may vary based on amenities. For PG courses, tuition stands at ₹11.3 lakh under the state quota, ₹38.3 lakh for institutional seats, and ₹47.3 lakh for NRI quota students. After that, students may also incur additional costs for specialized training modules, depending on their field.
