About the College

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGM Medical College), Indore, established in 1878 as King Edward Medical School, is one of India’s oldest and most prestigious medical colleges. It became a full-fledged medical college in 1948 and continues to deliver excellence in medical education. The college is affiliated with Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

The campus integrates modern academic infrastructure, including advanced lecture halls, research-oriented laboratories, and a fully equipped central library. MGM Medical College has a strong legacy of medical education, research, and innovation, being among the first medical schools in Asia and one of the founding institutions linked with the National Medical Library of India.

About the Hospital

MGM Medical College is linked with the Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH) group, comprising several specialized healthcare units with a total capacity of approximately 2,190 beds. MYH, established in 1955, once ranked as Asia’s largest government hospital. Associated hospitals include the 200-bedded Chacha Nehru Children’s Hospital, 100-bedded Cancer Hospital, 600-bedded Superspeciality Hospital, 500-bedded MTH Women’s Hospital, and a 100-bedded Psychiatric Hospital.

These hospitals provide tertiary care, emergency services, OPD and IPD facilities, and a wide range of specialty and superspecialty services. This setup gives students comprehensive clinical exposure and hands-on experience.

Seats in College

The college admits 250 students annually for its MBBS program. It offers 289 postgraduate (MD/MS) seats in various specialties. Super-specialty programs include DM Cardiology (2 seats), M.Ch. Neurosurgery (2 seats), and M.Ch. Paediatric Surgery (2 seats), among others. The combined annual intake across all programs reaches up to 510 seats, ensuring opportunities for diverse medical education and specialization.

The MBBS course costs approximately INR 5.31 Lakhs for the full duration, translating to about INR 1.18 Lakhs annually. Postgraduate (MD/MS) courses cost between INR 3.22 Lakhs and INR 3.54 Lakhs for the full three-year program. Super-specialty courses like DM and M.Ch. cost around INR 3.54 Lakhs. Hostel fees range from INR 12,000 to INR 18,000 per year, with additional caution deposits and security charges applicable.
